Vitesse reclaimed 2nd spot from PSV Eindhoven despite a 2-2 draw with Heerenveen on Saturday night.

bilal sThe home side missed two great chances to open the scoring early on, but they finally took the lead on 31 minutes when a fine team move ended with Rochdi Achenteh squaring the ball across the box for Mike Havenaar to finish from close range.

The lead did not last long and Heerenveen were level nine minutes later as Alfred Finnbogason shrugged off Jan-Aria van der Heijden before firing into the corner past Piet Velthuizen.

The goal before half time seemed to galvanise the visitors, and Heerenveen took the lead just before the hour mark as Bilal Basacikoglu rose about Kelvin Leerdam to head past Velthuizen.

However Vitesse found an equaliser ten minutes later with Kelvin Leerdam slipping the ball through to Bertrand Traore on the right hand side of the box, and the attacker fired across Kristoffer Nordfeldt to make it 2-2.

Heerenveen had the best chance in the last 20 minutes to find the winner but Finnbogason could not beat Velthuizen when through on goal. The point means Vitesse are back in 2nd above PSV on goal difference, after the Eindhoven club lost to Groningen later on Saturday.
