NAC Breda twice came from behind to hold in-form Vitesse Arnhem to a 2-2 draw.

vejinovic hffgfgThe home side had won their three previous matches, scoring 16 goals in the process, and they started brightly against NAC Breda, with Jelle ten Rouwelaar having to save from both Kelvin Leerdam and Bertrand Traore in the first ten minutes.

Vitesse continued to press the visitors but it wasn’t until the 31st minute that they took the lead, with Marko Vejinovic slotting in a penalty.

NAC Breda were awarded a penalty of their own before half time for a handball by Jan-Arie van der Heijden, but Erik Falkenburg could only fire over the bar.

On the hour mark NAC did draw level with winger Adnane Tighadouini slotting in on the rebound after Piet Velthuizen had stopped Kingsley Boateng’s shot.

Vitesse restored their lead on 80 minutes as Veijinovic netted his second with an excellent curling free kick, but the home side once again failed to hold onto the lead as a huge blunder from Velthuizen allowed NAC to snatch a point. Tighadouini’s free kick bounced in the box and should have been an easy catch for Velthuizen, but inexplicably the goalkeeper allowed the ball to fly past him.

The point sees Vitesse temporarily move fifth, while NAC are still in the bottom three and sit 16th.
