solanke vitThe game started in a breathless manner as both sides went close to netting in the opening minutes with Albert Rusnak firing over and Mimoum Mahi smashing a shot off the crossbar for the visitors, while Marvelous Nakamba saw a long range effort fly wide for Vitesse.

After 18 minutes the deadlock was broken by Vitesse as Dominik Solanke struck from close range after Sergio Padt saved from Nakamba. Lewis Baker nearly made it 2-0 soon after but his shot struck the post, while at the other end the woodwork prevented Michael de Leeuw equalising with a header.

Three minutes before the end Nathan calmly slotted past Padt from close range before Abiola Dauda sealed the emphatic win in the final minute.

Vitesse go into the international break in sixth, while Groningen sit 9th.
