Vitesse Arnhem remains level on points with Ajax at the top of the table after defeating Emmen 3-1, despite Riechedly Bazoer seeing red in the first-half.

Oussama Tannane was back in the Vitesse line-up after a suspension and the midfielder opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a penalty. Tannane then doubled the lead in the 26th minute with a lovely solo goal.

Vitesse were cruising but then in the 29th minute, Bazoer was sent off for a high tackle on Sergio Pena. The tackle was originally given as a yellow card offense until the intervention of VAR.

Despite being down to ten, Vitesse added a third before the break as Loïs Openda finished after being set up by Thomas Bruns.

In the second half, Michael de Leeuw pulled one back for Emmen, but that proved to be nothing but a consilation.

Vitesse remains in second on goal difference, while Emmen are 17th.
