Vitesse Arnhem have temporarily climbed back to the top of the table after a 4-2 victory over Fortuna Sittard.

The game in Arnhem not only saw the home crowd pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Battle of Arnhem but a minute silence was also held for the death of Fortuna Sittard favourite Fernando Ricksen who lost his battle to MND this week.

Fortuna Sittard made the better start to the match and after 25 minutes they took the lead with Mark Diemers finding the net from the edge of the box.

Vitesse were poor but on the hour mark they found the equaliser through Tim Matavz. However, three minutes later, Fortuna Sittard once again took the lead with Martin Angha, who wore Ricksen’s number two on the back, heading in.

Vitesse seemed to be heading for defeat but in the 81st minute, Bryan Linssen headed in an equaliser. Two minutes later the winger then made it 3-2 after nodding in from close range.

In injury time, Matús Bero then sealed the victory for the hosts to move them one point clear at the top ahead of PSV v Ajax tomorrow. Fortuna Sittard stay 17th.
