Vitesse Arnhem have set a new club record and climbed to third in the Eredivisie with a 4-0 win at VVV Venlo.

Going into the game, Leonid Slutsky knew he could surpass Ronald Koeman and lead the club to it’s best ever start to an Eredivisie season with a victory.

Vitesse were the better team from the start but had to wait until the half-hour mark to break the deadlock when Bryan Linssen netted. The forward then made it 2-0 five minutes later after being set up by Nouha Dicko.

Two minutes before the break, Riechedly Bazoer made it 3-0 with an excellent strike from outside the box that flew into the bottom corner.

Eight minutes into the second half, a long kick forward from Remko Pasveer set Dicko through on goal and he calmly slotted in a fourth for the visitors.

From that point the game was a stroll for Vitesse, who know move onto 23 points from ten games. That beats Koeman’s record of 22. VVV sit 13th.
