Vitesse Arnhem routed Heracles Almelo 4-0 to end the visitors four-game unbeaten run in the Eredivisie.

After five victories in a row in all competitions, Heracles Almelo headed to Arnhem full of confidence and keen to show that they are genuine contenders for a top six spot.

However, Vitesse, who were without the injured Tim Matavz, dominated the tie from the start and they took the lead in the 11th minute with Navarone Foor finding the top corner with an excellent strike from distance.

Heracles struggled to find a way back into the game and Vitesse eventually made it 2-0 before the break with Oussama Darfalou racing through on goal before calmly firing past Janis Blaswich.

In the second half, Vitesse remained in control and with 25 minutes left they added a third through Darfalou, who finished off well on the counter to bag his second of the game. A fourth came in the 73rd minute after Alexander Buttner was brought down in the box, with the full-back scoring the resulting penalty himself.

Vitesse climb up to sixth while Heracles stay fourth.
