Feyenoord’s unbeaten Eredivisie run under Dick Advocaat is over after a 1-0 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem.

Advocaat decided to line up in a 5-3-2 to match Vitesse but was without Steven Berghuis.

Vitesse dominated the first-half and in the 40th minute they had the lead with Riechedly Bazoer playing a lovely ball over the top to set Lois Openda clear. The striker burst past Marcos Senesi and squared for Oussama Darfalou to tap-in.

In the second half, Feyenoord poured forward with Remko Pasveer having to make a double save to deny Bryan Linssen and Nicolai Jorgensen. Luis Sinisterra and Luciano Narsingh then came on as Advocaat threw everything forward to find a goal.

Uros Spajic hit the bar, Eric Botteghin fired over from close range and in the last moments, Sinisterra put a header against the woodwork as Feyenoord failed to find the leveller.

Feyenoord taste their first Eredivisie defeat since last year, while Vitesse are third in the table.
