Mohamed Sankoh scored a late equaliser as Vitesse Arnhem took a 1-1 draw away from AZ Alkmaar.

Vitesse started with Mitchell Dijks at left-back, while AZ Alkmaar were able to hand a debut to Djordje Mihailovic who replaced the suspended Dani de Wit.

Mihailovic almost scored the opening goal after thirty minutes but he was denied by Vitesse stopper Kjell Scherpen.

AZ had a lot of possession but they struggled to break down an organised Vitesse defence. Eventually, in the 77th minute, Vangelis Pavlidis hammered the ball past Scherpen to give the hosts the lead.

Three minutes before the end, Vitesse grabbed a point as Mohamed Sankoh ghosted in to net a cross from close range.

AZ is now fifth while Vitesse is 13th.
