excvitdhdhFeyenoord’s failing’s recently has given Vitesse and the sides around them hope of challenging for the top three this season, and Rob Maas’s side could have moved to within a point of the Rotterdam club if they beat Excelsior on Saturday.

However, from the start Vitesse struggled to break down Excelsior, with the home side reduced to efforts from range, while Filip Kurto denied Renato Ibarra after a one-two with Marvelous Nakamba.

The home fans made their feelings heard when the half time whistle sounded, but there was to be no improvement in the second half, with Excelsior once again repelling the limp Vitesse attack.
