Vitesse Arnhem have confirmed that Alexander Büttner and Maikel van der Werff will leave the club this summer.

The defensive duo’s contracts expire this summer and technical director Mo Allach has confirmed their future, “Lies elsewhere.”
The departure of Buttner comes as a surprise to many with the left-back a regular starter for the club last season and he spoke of his happiness to remain at the club. Van der Werff, on the other hand, was in and out of Leonid Slutsky’s plans.
Vitesse will now have to enter the transfer market to sign replacements with PSV Eindhoven centre-back Armondo Obispo set to join on loan.
Buttner had been with Vitesse since 2017, while van der Werff signed from PEC Zwolle in 2015.
