Vitesse Arnhem began their Eredivisie season with a simple 4-1 win over newly promoted NAC Breda.

NAC arrived in Arnhem looking forward to their Eredivisie return after two years in the second tier, but they were overrun in a first half dominated by Vitesse.

After only two minutes, Alexander Buttner crossed for Thomas Bruns to convert the opening goal and soon after it was 2-0 as Bryan Linssen fired in from close range. Two became three on the half hour mark as Tim Matavz marked his Eredivisie return with a fine headed finish.

In the second half, NAC showed signs of life and pulled a goal back through Thierry Ambrose who headed in Manu Garcia’s cross. However, Vitesse made sure of the victory late on with Milot Rashica firing in the fourth.
