Vitesse Arnhem climbed back into fifth spot with a 3-0 victory at FC Emmen.

Kjell Scherpen took his place in the Emmen goal despite losing his brother in midweek. Before the match started their was an emotional tribute to Jorg Scherpen.

After four minute, Scherpen made a great save to deny Max Clark which was met with a loud cheer. However, he was beaten in the fourteenth minute by Mohammed Dauda’s acrobatic volley.

Vitesse remained in control but the second goal escaped them until the 71st minute when Martin Ødegaard found the net with a great free-kick. Moments later, Ødegaard found the net again but it was rejected by VAR.

Just before the end, Vitesse did add a third when Navarone Foor raced in on goal before firing past Scherpen.

The victory moves Vitesse back above Heracles into fifth while Emmen are 16th.
