Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has told Fox Sports that he is interested in the former Feyenoord centre back as a replacement for Dejan Lovren, who wants to leave. However Koeman admitted that Vlaar’s price tag may be a problem for any deal.

Koeman said, “Ron would definitely be an option. But I think he won’t be cheap right now. Let’s just wait and see.”

Vlaar has also been linked with moves to Manchester United and Roma, while Aston Villa are keen to tie the 29-year-old down to a new deal.
