Sam Lammers and Michel Vlap both scored twice in the first half to lead Heerenveen to a 5-0 victory at De Graafschap.

Heerenveen’s start to the season has been poor but they blew De Graafschap away in the first half in Deventer. In the 25th minute, Sam Lammers opened the scoring with an excellent strike from distance after weaving through to defenders. The on-loan PSV forward then netted his five goal of the season three minutes later with a lovely chip over Hidde Jurjus.

Michel Vlap then added a third on 36 minutes, cutting in from the left before curling the ball into the bottom corner. The midfielder then fired in the fourth before the break.

De Graafschap were awful in the first half and six minutes after the break, Erik Bakker pulled down Vlap who was racing in on goal, and the referee produced a red card.

With a man extra, Heerenveen pushed for a fifth which eventually came through substitute Jizz Hornkamp, who fired a low strike past Jurjus after being set up by Arber Zeneli.

Heerenveen jump up to 8th in the table while De Graafschap are down in 15th.
