Under the leadership of interim trainer Jay Driessen, VVV Venlo ended their seven game losing streak with a 2-1 win over FC Twente.

After the 6-1 loss to Heracles before the winter break, VVV decided to sack Robert Maaskant. Jay Driessen stepped in to take over.

Twente dominated the game early on with Keito Nakamura hitting the bar. However, VVV took the lead in the 34th minute as Peter van Ooijen rounded off a swift attack. Two minutes later, Elia Soriano headed in a second for the hosts.

Four minutes before the break, Haris Vuckic pulled one back for the visitors. A second half comeback did not materialise though as VVV held on for a much-needed victory.

VVV are now 16th while Twente are 12th.
