VVV Venlo have confirmed the appointment of Robert Maaskant as their new head coach on a two-year deal.

The 50-year-old has been out of work since leaving Go Ahead Eagles in 2017 and wasn’t expected to return to coaching.

However, Maaskant has been named the new head coach of VVV Venlo on a two-year deal, replacing Maurice Steijn, who left the club to take charge of Al-Wahda.

Maaskant told the VVV website, “It will be difficult to match Maurice’s fantastic performance but luckily everyone at VVV is realistic about that. Maintaining is the objective. ”
