Ajax missed several chances as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Molde in their second Europa League group game.

After the draw with Celtic two weeks ago, Ajax went to Norway in hope of kick-starting their group stage campaign, but after only seven minutes they found themselves behind as Eirik Hestad tapped Etzaz Hussain’s pass into the net from close range.
Ajax then took control of the game and after Riechedly Bazoer smacked the post with a strong strike, Viktor Fischer eventually equalised with a deflected strike from just outside the box on 18 minutes.
Before the break Fischer saw an effort well saved by goalkeeper Ethan Horváth while Arkaduisz Milik and Anwar El Ghazi also missed good chances.
After the break Fischer saw a bullet header brilliantly saved by Horvath, while at the other end Jasper Cillessen came to the rescue to tip Joona Toivio’s free kick against the post. The best chance of the second half fell to Ajax top scorer El Ghazi, but after Davy Klaassen headed across goal the winger somehow failed to connect with the ball from point blank range.
Ajax had to settle for another point in the group, which keeps them joint second with Celtic, who drew 2-2 with Fenerbahce in the group’s other tie.
