Manchester United has officially confirmed the signing of Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season.

Weghorst was loaned to Besiktas from Burnley but Manchester United has agreed to pay the Turkish side €2.825 million in order to cancel their agreement.

The Netherlands international signs on loan until the end of the season but there is no clause to make the move permanent.

The 30-year-old started his career in Emmen before spells with Heracles Almelo, AZ Alkmaar, Wolfsburg and then Burnley. He could not prevent their relegation from the Premier League last season, so was loaned to Besiktas, where he has netted eight goals in the Super Lig. Weghorst showed form at the World Cup, netting two goals in the quarter-final against Argentina.

He will not be registered in time to make an appearance during the Manchester derby this weekend.
