On Friday, there was bemusement as Frank de Boer once again left Wout Weghorst out of his Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The striker has been in great form this season and he netted one again on Saturday in Wolfsburg’s 2-1 win over Werder Bremen. It was the 28-year-old’s 17th league goal this season and his 50th in the Bundesliga.
The win means Wolfsburg strengthen their position in third and Champions League football is getting closer and closer for the club.
I’m mad, what kind of coach chooses a benchwarmer to a top player, frank de boer failed as a coach in Italy England and USA all in a row, and then got rewarded as a national team coach! I wonder what are the criteria for choosing L de jong instead of weghorst!!!????
I do not know what as been going on in the KNVB since the 2014 world cup. Dutch football is in big trouble.
Is Mr. De Boer there???
He hasn’t the greaaaaaaat personality of Babel or de Jong !!!!
I think FDB picked his players based on the same qualifications that KNVB picked him: pick the loser and incompetent.
Agree Ori, been ridiculous how hard it’s been for Weghorst to get in when he has been smashing it for Wolfsburg for years now & was great at AZ. He is just behind Lewandowski but can’t get in above De Jong. Massive mistake Koeman did the same but then finally called him up but deserves a real go him & Depay could cause Havoc. He is more then just a target man does a lot & scores some spectacular goals & creates. Should 💯 be in squad.
