The striker has had a fine first campaign in the Bundesliga since signing for Wolfsburg from AZ Alkmaar last summer.
Weghorst scored a hattrick on the final day of the season and also contributed an assist as Wolfsburg hammered Augsburg 8-1. The result seals sixth place in the Bundesliga and a Europa League place.
Weghorst finishes the season with 17 Bundesliga goals and seven assists. He will be hoping that is enough to convince Ronald Koeman he deserves a place in the Netherlands squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League.
The former AZ star has been named in the provisional squad but has missed out recently with Luuk de Jong preferred.
17 goals Weghourst has done very well & got a brace a few weeks ago. Shame Alirrza hasn’t had same luck at Brighton but I knew that was bad move bc style they play. Potter might do better with him & get a RB who can link up with him.
Tho congrats to Weghoust & he be a good add to Koeman’s squad big tgt man Depay could play with.
