Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign him.

The striker was linked with Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, but remains at Wolfsburg.

Speaking to Kicker, Weghorst said, “I can be honest. Of course I knew there was interest left and right. Tottenham was serious. I was a candidate there.”

For now, Weghorst is happy at Wolfsburg, “I am now 28 years old and would like to win prizes. I have clearly stated that here. If one day I feel like I can’t achieve my goals at Wolfsburg, I’ll say so. But that is not the case now.”

The 28-year-old still sees a move to England as a dream, though, “The Premier League is still a dream for me.”
