Arsene Wenger does not expect Ajax to be successful in the Champions League this season.

The former Arsenal head coach spoke with NOS about the Amsterdam club,  “I have only just seen Ajax v Liverpool in the Champions League. I like to watch that. They have developed the football they are known for. But they are still too immature, too young, too light to really be of any significance in the Champions League.”

Wenger added, “You can see the potential. What I always like about the Netherlands is the search for an intelligent solution, an in-depth application. And the development of interplay.”

Wenger also denied he held talks to be the new Netherlands head coach, “I have not had any contact with anyone from the KNVB.”
