The 24-year-old joined Middlesbrough in 2014 from Heerenveen, but has only made 11 league appearances for the club since then. In October Wildschut dropped down to League one with Wigan on loan and has made an impression with one goal and two assists in eight league matches.
Speaking to Fox Sports, Wildschut has confirmed that Wigan are hoping to keep him at the club, but he is open to offers from other clubs.
Wildschut said, “Wigan was a gamble, I admit. If I could make no impression here, it would become very difficult. But the choice has worked out well, ”
“Wigan would like to keep me. That is certainly an option, but interest is growing.
“Of course I want to still prove myself to Middlesbrough, but it remains to be seen what their plans are. “
