Frank de Boer finally has his first win as Netherlands boss after a 3-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the 0-0 draw in Bosnia last month, Netherlands are in need of two victories if they are to make the next round of the Nations League.

In the sixth minute, Georginio Wijnaldum got Netherlands off to a great start, after a fine move involving Memphis Depay and Denzel Dumfries.

Seven minutes later, Wijnaldum doubled the lead in almost identical circumstances, converting a Steven Berghuis lay-off after an excellent Memphis cross.

Before the break it should have been 3-0 when Berghuis set up Luuk de Jong for a tap-in. However, the linesman’s flag wrongly went up, and with no VAR the goal was disallowed. Darko Todorovic was also lucky that VAR was absent after a stamp on the foot of Memphis only resulted in a yellow card.

Berghuis went close early in the second half before Memphis did add a third in the 55th minute from a Dumfries cross.

Smail Prevljak pulled one back in the 63rd minute, but Netherlands then saw out the victory, with De Boer sealing his first Oranje victory.

Netherlands go top of the group, but Italy host Poland later in the evening. On Wednesday, Netherlands travel to Poland for their final group game.
