Georginio Wijnaldum scored his first league goal of the season as Liverpool eased to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth to return to the top of the Premier League.

The midfielder missed the draw with West Ham United last Monday but returned to the starting eleven against Bournemouth, which also featured Virgil van Dijk.

Wijnaldum showed his class after 34 minutes to double the hosts lead. The Dutch international burst into the box and brought a long ball down perfectly, before chipping a delightful finish over the Bournemouth goalkeeper.

It was Wijnaldum’s first goal of the season but his 20th in the Premier League in 130 appearances for Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Van Dijk kept a clean sheet at the back as Liverpool eased to a 3-0 victory which moves them back above Manchester City to the top of the Premier League. At the other end of the pitch, it was a day to forget for Nathan Ake.
