According to The Guardian, Georginio Wijnaldum will sign a new contract with Liverpool.

The Dutch international has been a key player for Jurgen Klopp this season with Liverpool easing to the Premier League title. However, the midfielder is coming into the final year of his contract and despite talks for a while, no new deal has been agreed.

The Guardian is now reporting that talks have recently been very positive and that Wijnaldum is set to sign a contract until at least 2024. The 29-year-old wanted assurances over playing time and his role with the club. These appear to have been given and an agreement is close.

The former Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven star has been with Liverpool since joining from Newcastle United in 2015. He has made 28 appearances this season in the Premier League.
