Van Gaal named the 24-year-old in his squad for last summer’s World Cup despite the midfielder missing most of the season through injury, with Wijnaldum going on to score in the 3-0 win over Brazil which sealed Netherlands third place.
Now speaking to Sky Sports, Wijnaldum who admitted he is open to leaving PSV this summer, has stated he is open to working with Louis van Gaal again should Manchester United come knocking.
Wijnaldum said, “Of course I would like to work with him again,”
“He is a good trainer, and makes players better. I work really fine with him and he is a great man.
“He gave me a chance and opportunity to play in a World Cup after seven months out injured, and I am thankful for that. He helped me get my confidence back.”
The PSV captain has been in outstanding form for the club this season, scoring 15 goals, and will lift the Eredivisie trophy this weekend should his side beat Heerenveen on Saturday.
