The Dutch international has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, who are now managed by Ronald Koeman.
However, Sky Sports are reporting that Wijnaldum held talks with Klopp on Wednesday that were positive. The 29-year-old is now hoping that Liverpool offers him a new deal to remain at the club.
Liverpool are yet to do this and a transfer to Barcelona cannot be ruled out yet. Liverpool are reportedly looking to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago.
Wijnaldum has been with Liverpool since 2016 but is in the final year of his current contract.
