Injuries forced Phillip Cocu to start with centre-back Daniel Schwaab in the middle along with Oleksandr Zinchenko, who made his first start and the visitors struggled to take control in the first half.
Out of form Luuk de Jong, who hasn’t scored a league goal since September, headed straight at Kostas Lamprou in a rare chance for PSV in the opening stages, and it was Willem II who could have been ahead at the break. The lively Jordy Croux got in on goal but his chip over Jeroen Zoet went just wide. The winger appealed for a penalty with Zoet’s challenge on the winger late but his appeals were waved away.
Early in the second half, Zoet denied Thom Haye with a great save, while the PSV defence survived some pinball in the box after a cross wasn’t cleared. At the other end, De Jong was handed another excellent opportunity but he could only send a free header wide from a few yards out.
The introduction of Steven Bergwijn and Davy Propper proved ineffective as Willem II held out for a point. The draw means PSV stay third, while Willem II climb temporarily to 14th.
