Willem II aim to use the millions they will receive from Frenkie de Jong’s move to Barcelona on the club’s “Long-term goals.”

Frenkie de Jong came through Willem II’s academy before moving to Ajax. His move from Amsterdam to Barcelona in the summer is set to earn the Tilburg club around €6 million.

Willem II will not use this money to enter the transfer market, but will instead use it for the club’s long-term goals.

Some 160 sponsors met on Tuesday afternoon at the headquarters of Willem II’s main sponsor DESTIL. Club technical director Joris Mathijsen spoke at the meeting and stated that the €6 million will go to renovating the club’s academy and stadium among other things.

Mathijsen also revealed a meeting will be held with head coach Adrie Koster this month to evaluate his position.
