Heerenveen midfielder Branco van den Boomen has joined Willem II on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by Heerenveen boss Jurgen Streppel and has been offered a way out of the club by Willem II, who had van den Boomen in their youth ranks before he joined Ajax in 2011.
Heerenveen signed the midfielder from FC Eindhoven last summer, and van den Boomen made 23 league appearances for the club, scoring once. However, he did not feature in the first game of the season last weekend which Heerenveen drew against AZ.
Van den Boomen becomes the sixth signing for Willem II this summer after Elmo Lieftink, Thom Haye, Fran Sol, Andrew Calcan, and Jari Schuurman all joined Erwin van de Looi’s side.
