Jetro Willems has stated his desire to make his loan move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Newcastle United permanent.

The left-back joined the Premier League side in the summer on a season-long loan deal, but it was cut short after Willems suffered a serious injury.

Interacting with Newcastle United fans on Twitter, who were asking for him to return to the club, Willems was asked what he wanted and he replies, “To sign and play for NUFC.”

There was no clause in the defender’s loan to make the move permanent, and Willems still has months of recovery before he will return to the pitch. However, he was a popular figure at Newcastle, who are on the verge of a takeover.

A departure from Eintracht Frankfurt does seem inevitable this summer, but whether that is to Newcastle remains to be seen.
