Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that the reason he wears the number five shirt is because of Zinedine Zidane.

The midfielder has been playing with the number five on his back at Newcastle United and then Liverpool.
Speaking in an interview on Instagram live, Wijnaldum revealed why he chose that number, “Number five is very special to me. It was my lucky number when I was young, also because my favourite player, Zinedine Zidane, played with number five.
“I’ve played with five since Newcastle United and when I left for Liverpool they kept the number free for me. I was very happy with that.”
Wijnaldum also stated the Champions League win last season was the highlight of his career so far, “That was an amazing feeling. Afterwards it was even more special, because during the game you are full of adrenaline. You don’t realise it.
“Even in the dressing room and on the way home, I didn’t realise what had happened. It was one of the best moments in my career. That feeling is hard to describe. You have to experience that yourself, even now I can hardly believe it.”
