Emmen has secured the signing of former Ajax and Groningen striker Richairo Zivkovic on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old was most recently with Red Star Belgrade, but his contract was terminated, allowing him to join Emmen on a one-year deal with the option of a second.

Zivkovic came through the Groningen academy and made a splash in the Eredivisie before being snapped up by Ajax in 2014. His time in Amsterdam did not go to plan and he had a number of loan moves. He has then had spells with KV Oostende (Belgium), Changchun Yatai (China), Sheffield United (England), Guangzhou City (China), and then Red Star Belgrade.

Zivkovic is now back in the Eredivisie and looking to prove himself with Emmen. He told the club’s website, “In addition, I wanted to return to the Netherlands and FC Emmen offers me that opportunity. I look forward to giving everything in a full stadium in Drenthe.”
