Vermeer played the full 90 minutes of Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw with Ajax on Sunday, but immediately after the game it was announced that the goalkeeper would not report to the Netherlands squad on Monday.
Coach Danny Blind has now named Jeroen Zoet as Vermeer’s replacement. The PSV goalkeeper started both of the final two European Championship qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Czech Republic, but his name was missing when Blind named his final squad on Friday.
Zoet joins Jasper Cillessen and Maarten Stekelenburg as the three goalkeepers who will battle it out to face Wales and Germany on the 13th and 17th of November.
