aja futurAjax U17’s have appeared in the final of the competition which they host every year since it started in 2010, winning the competition three times. This year they were drawn into a group with Schalke, Galatasaray and Porto, while Anderlecht, Juventus, Celtic and Liverpool contested the other group.

The tournament started in style for the hosts on Saturday as Ajax recorded a simple 4-0 victory over German side Schalke. Striker Donyell Malen was the hero for Ajax with two goals, while Reda Boultam, and Mees de Wit also scored.

However in the second of Ajax’s Saturday games they were defeated 1-0 by Porto, meaning they had to beat Galatasaray on Sunday to book their place in the last four. A strong performance from the young Amsterdam side saw them beat Galatasaray 2-0 with goals from Boultam and Sierhuis, and with Porto and Schalke drawing 0-0, Ajax top the group.

On Monday Ajax will face Juventus in the semi-finals after they finished second in group B, with the winner facing either Anderlecht or Porto later that day in the final.
