ADO Den Haag have lifted themselves off the bottom after a crucial 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen.

The visitors had the better of the first half, but the crossbar denied Mohamed Rayhi before Robert Zwinkels made a great save to deny Gregor Breinburg. The best chance fell to the returning Jay-Roy Grot, but the 18-year-old couldn’t beat Zwinkels after racing through on goal.

In the second half, ADO Den Haag boss Alfons Groenendijk decided to throw on Mike Havenaar for the disappointing Guyon Fernandez and twenty minutes before the end, the Japanese forward provided the winning goal. Havenaar headed a Ruben Schaken cross past Joris Delle.

The visitors couldn’t respond and the hosts held on for three points which lifts them to 15th. NEC remain 12th.
