The home side went into the game full of confidence after the 4-1 hammering of FC Twente last week, but after an even half an hour they found themselves behind to a Sebastien Haller penalty. The referee pointed to the spot after ADO defender Timothy Derijck brought down Nacer Barazite in the box, and Haller slotted in his fourth goal of the season.
After the break ADO Den Haag went in search of an equaliser, but Utrecht defended their goal resolutely, as Haller blocked a Mike Havenaar header on the line, and Sean Klieber also stopped Tom Beugelsdijk’s effort from finding the net.
It seemed Utrecht were to hold on to the win, but in the final minute Havenaar’s header beat Robbin Ruiter, and earned his side a point.
ADO Den Haag keep up their unbeaten start to the season, while Utrecht are still searching for a win after their second draw.
