alberThe best chance of a disappointing first half fell to the visitors as ADO Den Haag keeper Coutinho had to pull off a good stop to deny Nick van der Velden.

Ten minutes into the second half Richairo Zivkovic missed a glorious chance to open the scoring for Groningen, as the striker blasted over the bar from right in front of goal.

Five minutes later ADO Den Haag were awarded a hugely controversial penalty as Eric Botteghin brought down Roland Alberg on route to goal. The Groningen defender was shown a straight red card, while replays showed the foul was well outside the box. Alberg made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-0.

Despite being down to ten men, Groningen were still dangerous and equalised on 78 minutes as Filip Kostic played through Zivkovic, and the striker made up for his earlier miss by slamming a half volley into the top corner.

In the final minute of time, Dion Malone sneaked through the Groningen defence to slot the ball past Marco Bizot and win the game for ADO Den Haag.

The win lifts ADO Den Haag up to 12th, and eases their relegation fears, while Groningen slip to 10th after their third defeat in he last four matches.
