PEC Zwolle’s five-game unbeaten run in the Eredivisie came to an abrupt end on Friday as they were hammered 4-0 by ADO Den Haag.

Ryan Thomas, Mustafa Saymak, Dirk Marcellis and Youness Mokhtar were all missing for PEC Zwolle, and without their star men the visitors struggled.

ADO Den Haag dominated from the start and eventually took the lead when Erik Falkenburg nodded in Nasser El Khayati’s corner.

Terell Ondaan and Wouter Marinus wasted good chances for the equaliser and before the break, ADO Den Haag doubled their lead when Björn Johnsen headed in a free-kick.

Seven minutes into the second half, Sheraldo Becker set up Falkenburg to tap in his second and the hosts third. Johnsen then sealed the comfortable victory ten minutes later to send ADO Den Haag into the winter break on the back of a big win and in seventh place. PEC Zwolle remain fourth.
