According to Voetbal International, only a “yes” from Dick Advocaat stands in the way of the veteran being named as the new head coach of Feyenoord.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst announced he was leaving his position at the club in the summer and director Martin van Geel is eager to appoint an experienced manager to replace him.

VI state that Dick Advocaat was the only candidate for van Geel from day one and he hopes to convince the 71-year-old to take the job on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Advocaat, who is currently in charge of Utrecht until the summer, fits the criteria that Feyenoord want and will be used as a mentor for Dirk Kuyt. The former Feyenoord striker, who is getting his coaching badges at the moment, will act as his assistant and learn the ropes from him with the intention of taking over after a year.

Jean-Paul van Gastel and Denny Landzaat are set to stay on as assistants.
