advo byeThe Turkish giants parted ways with coach Vitor Pereira on Monday and are set to appoint Advocaat, who has quit his position with the Dutch national team only months after joining Danny Blind’s coaching staff.

In a statement released on the KNVB website, Blind said on the news, “I am surprised and disappointed. When I approached Dick in the spring, he gave me the impression that he was in it for the long haul.

“Anyway, it does not make sense to give it too much thought. From now on we have to apply ourselves only the matches against Greece and Sweden. There is work to do.”

Advocaat is expected to sign a one-year deal in Istanbul and will be assisted by Cor Pots.
