Frank de Boer and Ajax have ended their talks on the coach’s future as they look to focus solely on the Eredivisie title race.

f de boerAt the end of last year De Boer stated that he would provide clarity on his future with the Amsterdam club in March, but he has now decided to postpone that announcement.

Edwin van der Sar, director of external relations at Ajax said on the talks to VI, “Of course we talked about his future within the technical heart.

“Even with Frank there. But we want him focused in this important phase of the season with his players and his staff on the training and the matches of the first team. ”

De Boer’s contract at Ajax is up next year, and the 45-year-old has expressed his interest in moving to the English Premier League on several occasions.  In recent years Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City have shown interest. The latter could return for De Boer this summer, with current coach Francesco Guidolin’s contract up in Wales.
