Ajax have officially confirmed the signing of Ryan Babel on loan from Galatasaray until the end of the season.

News broke last week that Ajax were in talks with Galatasaray over a loan for the veteran attacker and the deal was finally confirmed on Saturday evening.

Babel came through the Ajax academy and spent three years in the first team before joining Liverpool in 2007. He then returned to Amsterdam in 2012 for a season before departing again.

Last summer, the 33-year-old joined Galatasaray but after five goals in 15 appearances in the Super Lig, Babel has headed for a third spell at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

The forward hopes the move will keep him in the picture for the Netherlands national team heading into next summer’s European Championships.
