According to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad, Ajax wants to sign Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken as a possible replacement for Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent days and it seems a departure is likely next week after Ajax’s Champions League 2nd leg clash with PAOK.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, Ajax will launch a move to sign Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken this week as they seek a new attacking midfielder.

However, Club Brugge are hoping to convince their key player to remain at the club by offering him a bumper new deal.

Vanaken, who spent six years in the PSV Eindhoven academy joined Club Brugge in 2015 from Lokeren. The 26-year-old has made 200 appearances for the club, scoring 57 goals and adding 51 assists.

Last season, Vanaken was named the player of the year in the Belgian league. He has two caps for the Belgian national team.
