ajau17 futrThe day started off well for the young Amsterdam side as they saw off Juventus 1-0 in the semi finals thanks to a second half goal by Che Nunnely. The win set up a final against Anderlecht, who defeated Porto on penalties in the other semi-final.

Ajax and Anderlecht have met twice before in the competitions final, with the Belgian side winning on both occasions, and that run continued this year. Ajax dominated the match, but could not find a winner and after the tie entered a penalty shootout, the Belgians triumphed 4-3.

Anderlecht win the tournament for the third time in its six year history, but the player of the tournament award went to 15-year-old Ajax centre back Matthijs de Ligt. The defender joins Davy Klaassen, Queensy Menig and Abdelhak Nouri as Ajax players who have received the same award.
