Ajax have been linked with the 21-year-old for weeks as they sought a replacement for Matthijs De Ligt, who has now joined Juventus.
On Friday, Ajax confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Club America for the defender, who is on his way to Amsterdam.
A medical and a few last details stand in the way of the €15 million deal being completed. Alvarez will sign a five-year deal.
Alvarez will compete with Perr Schuurs and Lisandro Magallan to partner Daley Blind in the centre of defence next season.
He is great CB but could also be Frenkie’s replacement started as CB but played in mod more for Club America & Mexico Natl team he can aslo play RB. Good move for him & he should fit in style he is tidy in the ball passing pace & composure on & off ball with great workrate technical & defeiaive ability. He is a versatile 21yo to be excited about then have Kik Pierie huge fan & Martinez both LCB & LBs, Marin too who was very good at Standard Liege. And looks like Neres will stay & maybe lose Ziyech but if Donny stays too have very string squad still & w Tadics new deal.
