Ajax have confirmed that club legend Barry Hulshoff has died at the age of 73.

The defender was one of the key players of the Ajax side that conquered Europe during the 1970’s, making over 280 appearances for the club. He lifted the European cup on three occasions and the Eredivisie title six times.

After Ajax he played for MVV and then went on to have a managerial career that ended in 2002 with Mechelen. Hulshoff made 14 appearances for Netherlands, scoring six times.

Ajax confirmed on Monday that Hulshoff had sadly passed away. We at Football-Oranje pass our condolences to his family.
