According to De Telegraaf, Ajax have made an official approach to sign Heerenveen defender Kik Pierie.

Ajax have been linked with a move for Pierie for months and De Telegraaf are now reporting an approach has been made.

Erik ten Hag and Marc Overmars are both convinced by Pierie’s abilities and are ready to bring him to Amsterdam.

Any deal could include Dennis Johnsen, who is currently on loan with Heerenveen. The Norwgian winger has no future at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and will be offered to Heerenveen to lower the fee.

Pierie has a contract with Heerenveen until the summer of 2020. The Netherlands U19 international, who also holds an American passport, has started 23 times for Ajax this season, scoring twice.

The news comes on the same day that Voetbal International reports that Ajax are hoping to conclude a deal for FC Emmen goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen by next week.
